KidSport Give The Gift of Sport 2023
Strathmore Minor Hockey is excited to support KidSport Calgary & Area in their 12th Annual Give the Gift of Sport campaign!
The Give the Gift of Sport was created to help raise money to break down financial barriers for children across Canada and the ability for less fortunate families to participate in sports.
In 2023 KidSport Calgary has distributed $112,901, providing 303 children with the opportunity to participate in Hockey! 565 families have been through The Calgary Flames Sports Bank with 7,671 pieces of no-cost hockey equipment that have gone out the doors to deserving families.

KidSport Calgary & Area has had a record-breaking year with over $2.2 million funded in registration fee grants and close to 16,000 pieces of equipment from the Calgary Flames Sports Bank going out the doors to deserving families! We are 100% community funded and supported. We raise dollars, run equipment drives, and are out and about connecting with the community year-round to support our fee assistance program, equipment needs, and operations. As a charity, our goal is to continue making a long-lasting difference and consistently working towards more children having the opportunity to participate in sports such as Hockey!
Firstly, we wanted to share with you the incredible impact Hockey has had on the community this year alone!
2023 KidSport & Flames Sports Bank Hockey Highlights:
- KidSport Calgary has distributed $457,369 supporting a record 799 kids into hockey this year
- 565 families have been through The Calgary Flames Sports Bank to receive no-cost equipment.
- 7,671 pieces of Hockey equipment have gone out the Sports Bank doors to deserving families!
- To break this number down further, here are some more specific equipment statistics - Sticks: 766, Helmets: 848, Gloves: 607, Skates: 888.
- 39 hockey clubs have been directly impacted by KidSport funding.
- 133 6 player units have been sent onto the ice this year, or 47 full 17 player teams are playing hockey with an assist from KidSport!
- $1,385 per day is going towards Hockey registration fees!
These are unbelievable numbers with still a full month remaining in 2023!
